Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Engineer
About FPRT
FirePoint Rocket Technology is building one of the most unique and strategically important industrial projects in Denmark - a new production facility for solid rocket propellant and advanced defense-tech components. Our ambition is significant: we are scaling from the early operational phase to 200 employees over the next 18 months.
Joining us now means becoming part of the core team shaping a new high-tech, safety-critical production environment from the ground up. We are looking for a Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Engineer who will digitize and optimize rocket propellant production execution, ensuring real-time shop-floor visibility, 100% batch traceability, and strict process compliance.
The Role
As the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Engineer, you will bridge shop-floor control systems, quality assurance, and enterprise IT networks to deliver a secure, compliant, and highly available digital production environment. You will report directly to the IT / Infrastructure Manager and collaborate closely with Process Automation Engineers, Quality Assurance (QA), and Production teams.
This role is paramount for standardizing Master Data Management (MDM) and batch records, linking equipment instrumentation with enterprise software, and embedding error-proofing into the IT process flow to guarantee quality from the start.
What You Will Do
Recipe & Execution Management (MDM)
Standardize, configure, and maintain Master Data Management (MDM), Electronic Batch Records (eBR), and Master Batch Records (MBR) for propellant manufacturing workflows.
Translate operational and chemical recipe procedures into structured, digital execution flows, including error-proofing of the human interface.
Ensure eBR/MBR design aligns with strict quality, defense manufacturing, and validation standards in close collaboration with QA.
System & Level 2–3 Integration
Connect Level 0–1 SCADA, PLCs, and IoT devices with Level 3 enterprise systems (SAP ERP, LIMS) in close collaboration with Process Automation Engineers.
Maintain database connectors, SQL integrations, and data exchanges between shop-floor hardware and management software.
Process Optimization & Compliance
Ensure 100% end-to-end batch traceability, parameter limits, and execution logging for high-risk chemical production aligned with GxP, ISO 9001, and defense standards.
Analyze execution data alongside Process Automation and Production teams to eliminate manual bottlenecks, improve UI/UX terminal usability, and drive real-time OEE, yield, and downtime tracking.
Maintenance, Safety & Operational Support
Design systems with built-in redundancy and conduct P-FMEA for IT scenario planning (e.g., connection loss or power outages).
Promptly troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve Level 2 shop-floor software incidents, database anomalies, and execution halts.
Manage software upgrades, patch deployments, and operator training without disrupting production schedules.
What We Offer
A rare career opportunity to lead digital execution architecture for one of Denmark's most unique industrial and defense-tech projects.
A role where your expertise directly determines the operational efficiency, traceability, and integrity of safety-critical products.
A professional, international environment with a clear mission and purpose.
Top-of-market compensation for the right experience.
Brand-new factory & equipment.
Modern office with gym, sauna & social spaces.
Real authority, Greenfield impact, Zero toxic culture, Mastery over busywork.
Work that protects freedom and life.
What We Are Looking For
You are an analytical, quality-minded engineer with a hands-on approach to bridging complex technical gaps between IT, QA, and shop-floor operations.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in MES configuration, execution layer engineering, or industrial automation in high-quality manufacturing environments.
Technical Proficiency: Technical proficiency with major MES platforms (e.g., PAS-X, Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FTPC, Ignition) and complex SQL database management.
Integration Expertise: Proven experience connecting shop-floor hardware (SCADA/PLCs) to Level 3 Enterprise systems (ERP/SAP, LIMS).
Standards & Security: Knowledge of GxP, ISO regulatory frameworks, and industrial cybersecurity concepts.
Languages: Fluent in English (spoken and written); Danish is an advantage.
Security Clearance & Vetting Notice
Due to the sensitive defense-tech nature of our projects and operations, all potential employees are subject to a police and intelligence background check as part of our standard recruitment process. Continued employment is conditional upon obtaining and maintaining the necessary security clearance.
