FirePoint Rocket Technology is building one of the most unique and strategically important industrial projects in Denmark - a new production facility for solid rocket propellant and advanced defense-tech components. Joining us now means becoming part of the core team shaping a new high-tech, safety-critical production environment from the ground up. We are looking for a Maintenance & Engineering Manager who will establish and execute an absolute, zero-compromise reliability strategy from day one.

The Role

As the Maintenance & Engineering Manager, you are responsible for the operational integrity, availability, and safety of all production assets and process equipment. Manufacturing rocket propellant leaves no room for trial and error - our process equipment must be predictable, fully mastered down to the individual component, and maintained at peak condition.

Reporting directly to the Chief Production Officer (CPO), you will lead the technical team in deep equipment mastery, anticipating service intervals with precision, and proactively replacing high-risk components before failures occur. You will work in close functional alignment with Process Engineering, Manufacturing Automation, EHS, Quality, and Production Planning to ensure seamless, compliant operations.

What You Will Do

1. Production Maintenance Strategy & Asset Management

• Develop and implement a preventive and predictive maintenance strategy for all production equipment, focusing on long-cycle and batch-based processes (mixers, thermal curing ovens, polymerization, climate-controlled chambers) to ensure thermal stability and high uptime.

• Minimize downtime by transitioning from reactive repairs to condition-based monitoring and planned interventions.

• Lead the selection, implementation, and management of a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to track work orders, asset history, and maintenance costs.

• Integrate maintenance requirements into the equipment acquisition process alongside QA, establishing preventive risk assessments and managing obsolescence planning.

2. Process Utilities & Production Support Engineering

• Oversee point-of-use process utilities directly feeding production lines, such as process vacuum, specialized process gas loops, and line-dedicated thermal fluids.

• Coordinate with internal and external facility teams on utility drop interfaces to ensure production machinery interface readiness.

3. EHS & Process Safety Compliance

• Enforce strict adherence to EHS standards across all equipment maintenance activities.

• Rigorously execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and "Permit to Work" systems on energetic material processing machinery and hazardous equipment zones.

4. Production Spare Parts & Technical Inventory

• Define critical spare parts strategies for production machinery to balance inventory costs with operational risk mitigation.

• Partner with the Warehouse team to track, store, and preserve technical production spares correctly.

• Monitor market lifecycle status for key equipment components and execute end-of-life obsolescence planning.

5. Team Leadership & Technical Development

• Lead, mentor, and schedule a team of production maintenance technicians and equipment specialists.

• Ensure the team is fully trained in safety protocols (ATEX, energetic materials) and advanced technical troubleshooting.

• Plan technician resources and build mechanical redundancy strategies to protect production during interventions or unplanned events.

6. Production Line CapEx & Commissioning Support

• Support the installation, mechanical integration, and commissioning of new production lines with Process Engineering and Automation.

• Provide early input on machine "serviceability and accessibility" during the design phase to eliminate future shop-floor bottlenecks.

First 90 Days – Expected Outcomes

• Critical spare parts inventory analysis completed and gaps identified.

• Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedule established for all key production assets.

• Maintenance team skills matrix assessed and training plan initiated.

• Design of the “obtain equipment” process and equipment lifecycle framework completed in collaboration with QA.

We Are Looking For

You are a highly structured, disciplined, and hands-on leader who thrives on the shop floor and maintains an absolute zero-compromise approach to equipment safety and operational reliability.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Experience: 5+ years of maintenance management experience within heavy industry, chemical processing, pharma, defense, or similar high-safety manufacturing environments.

• Leadership: Proven track record of managing technical teams, scheduling resources, and coordinating external contractors and facility service providers.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Experience working in highly regulated environments (ATEX, SEVESO, or similar energetic/hazardous contexts).

• Systems & Methods: Experience implementing or optimizing CMMS systems (e.g., SAP) and utilizing OEE and Root Cause Analysis (FMEA, 8D, 5 Whys).

• Technical Mastery: Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment), electrical systems, and industrial automation (PLC, SCADA).
